Yom Ha’atzmaut:

As we are often asked, here is an outline of the Halachot for Yom Haatzmaut:

Shaving: Permitted from the afternoon before, in preparation for Yom Haatzmaut.

Music: Permitted. As long as in the spirit of Yom Haatzmaut.

Hallel: Most people just say in the day, without a Bracha. There are those who say it with a Bracha.

( Many other poskim, particularly here in Israel say it should be recited with a bracha- Rav Goren, Rav Dov Lior, Rav Chaim David Halevi, Rav Tzvi Yehuda Kook, and Rav Meshulem Rota, all ruled that full Hallel with a Bracha should be recited on Yom Haatzmaut.)

Meals: It’s customary to have nicer food over Yom Haatzmaut as one would do on Yom Tov. Some have a Seder in the evening.

Clothing: It’s customary to wear better clothes when davening and eating. Not when on a tiyul though!

Chag Sameach!
