Congratulations! Sukkot is over, and real life finally begins ; with the work-week, comes the week-end –the two go together like rainbow sprinkles and vanilla  ice cream. So here to usher you into post-holiday normalcy, are my recommendations for the perfect fall weekend in Jerusalem:

Thursday, October 19th, 7:45 pm–  NanoWriMo Kick-Off Party at Mike’s Place:

If you, like me, have been working on a never-ending novel since your 15th birthday, have no fear: National Novel Writing Month is here! Kick it off in style with this literary party, where alcohol, inspiration, and emotional support will combine to help you start your month-long writing adventure.

Thursday, October 19th, 9:30 pm – Shimon and Levi Concert at Gola Culture Terminal at First Station:

Shimon and Levi does not refer to Jacob’s sons, but rather, to two members of Israel’s famous hip-hop group, Shotei Hanevua.

Thursday, October 19th, 8:30 pm – African Fusion Concert at Beit Hagat:

Mu Ambane, from Guinea-Bussau, a poet and musician, performs a wide array of African instruments, inspired by religious  women’s musical traditions. Sasha Agronov, a Russian-Israeli cellist, currently based out of Catalonia, joins Mu for an special concert that fuses African and Western music. The concert is free of charge, and part of a day-long arts and sciences fair that Beit Hagat will be hosting throughout Thursday.

Thursday, October 19th, 10 pm – Shlomi Shaban at the Yellow Submarine:*

This concert combines famous Israeli singer Shlomi Shaban, whose style encompasses both rock and classical traditions, with the Yellow Submarine’s renowned jazz ensemble, “The Non-Standards”.
